Arsenal are reportedly ramping up their efforts to sign Brazilian wonderkid Estevão Willian from Palmeiras.

Amidst stiff competition from European heavyweights like Barcelona, the Gunners are prepared to engage in a significant bidding war for the highly-rated winger.

arsenal academy hale endArsenal have emerged as keen contenders in the pursuit of Palmeiras’s young talent, Estevão Willian, as they prepare to ‘bid hard’ for the winger, reports Mundo Deportivo.

At just 16, Estevão has already caught the eye of top European clubs, despite making only one senior appearance for Palmeiras. He is not eligible to move to Europe until he turns 18 in 2025, yet this has not deterred Arsenal or other clubs from planning a deal.

The report claims that Mikel Arteta’s team is particularly enthusiastic about signing Estevão. They appear ready to engage in a serious bidding war to secure his services, signalling a strong commitment from the North London side.

Estevão’s impressive performance has been noted globally. He shone for Brazil at the U17 World Cup in Indonesia last November, where he scored three goals and provided three assists in five games. His recent displays for the Palmeiras U20 team at La Copinha, with four goals and two assists in five matches, have further enhanced his reputation.

However, Arsenal face stiff competition from Barcelona. The Spanish giants, having closely monitored Estevão’s progress, are also intent on making an offer. Barcelona’s scouts were particularly impressed with his World Cup outings. The board at Camp Nou has reportedly given the green light for a move, putting Barcelona in a favourable position, as Estevão reportedly prefers a transfer to the Catalan club.

In the midst of this, Barcelona’s financial constraints could play a crucial role. Estevão is said to have a €60m release clause, and it remains uncertain if Barcelona can meet this valuation, given their current financial situation.
