As the final games of the season approach, the fates of various teams in League A, B, and C are becoming clear, including promotions, relegations, and implications for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

This article also covers the status of Arsenal players in relation to these developments.

With one more game to go, we now have a clear idea of qualification, promotion, relegations from the different leagues as well as Paris 2024 Olympics qualification.

Here is what we know as of today:

Through to finals (League A group winners): France, Spain

Relegated from League A: Scotland, Switzerland, Wales

Promoted from League B: Finland, Poland, Republic of Ireland

Confirmed in League A/B play-offs: Iceland, Serbia

Relegated from League B: Albania, Belarus, Romania

Promoted from League C: Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Türkiye

The Home Nations have not done well in League A: Scotland and Wales are relegated, England are in big trouble and could miss out on the finals.

In League B1, Ireland have won promotion to League A next season and Northern Ireland are in a play-off place with one game to go against the Republic Of Ireland with the game taking place at Windsor Park.

Paris Olympics Qualifiers update

There are six teams now fighting for the two UEFA places – Spain, Netherlands/Belgium/Team GB, Denmark or Germany.

The two Nations league finalists qualify for the Paris Olympics and should France make the final the third-placed team qualify.

As France has made it to the finals alongside Spain, three of the four teams will be eligible for two places.

One curious thing is England will play Scotland on the final day needing to score more points than the Netherlands and if they get the same number of points on the day, England will have to get a better goal difference on the day by four goals.

So, potentially, any Scottish player who hopes to make the Team GB Olympics squad has to hope to lose against England by a huge margin.

Now anyone questioning the Scotland players’ integrity should be ashamed of themselves.

The idea of Scotland would give red carpet treatment to England is totally absurd.

Also, I don’t think Sarina Wiegman would be very keen to select a player in her squad who would tank a game.

Speaking about the situation, Wiegman said, “I understand the conversations about it, but if you have seen our group and if you have seen Scotland and if you know the history of Scotland and England, then there is no way they are going to give away this game. They really want to beat England. There’s such a rivalry that that’s absolutely not going to be the case.

“There is not an easy solution and it’s just about fair play. In football everyone wants to win and we know the rivalry between Scotland and England. So that’s just the way it is.”

From an Arsenal point of view, most of the players are looking to get a very needed rest this summer after many seasons without a break due to international tournaments.

The following players are definitely getting a rest as they are not current internationals or their country has not qualified:

Zinsberger and Wienroither (Austria), Williams and Goldie (England), Beattie and Little (retired), McCabe (Ireland), Maritz and Wälti (Switzerland), Ilestedt, Hurtig, Blackstenius (Sweden), Maanum (Norway), Queiroz (Brazil).

The following players are still in the hunt for qualification: Catley, Foord and Cooney-Cross (Australia), Codina (Spain), Pelova and Miedema (Netherlands), Wubben-Moy, Russo, Mead and Williamson (England), Kühl (Denmark).

The following players have qualified and are likely to be involved in France: D’Angelo and Lacasse (Canada).

The final games will be played on Tuesday and then the players can come back to the club and prepare the six-pointer title decider at home to Chelsea on Sunday 10 December at the Emirates Stadium.
