Kieran Tierney played 90 minutes for Real Sociedad for the first time over the weekend, in a positive sign after his injury struggles.

Kieran Tierney was part of a dominant Real Sociedad result on Saturday, as they dismantled Villarreal to win 3-0 away from home.

The on-loan Arsenal left-back completed the full 90 minutes, and it was a busy performance.

Tierney completed 85% of his passes, won four of six duels, made four clearances, two interceptions, and three tackles, as well as blocking a shot. He certainly helped to earn his team a clean sheet on the day.

Saturday’s match was the first of the season in which Tierney played 90 minutes, having been subbed off early in all of his other six appearances.

Tierney spent two months out of action with a hamstring injury, failing to play a minute in October or November, so to return and play a full match is a very encouraging sign.

The Arsenal man is unlikely to get much of a rest in midweek, though, as Real Sociedad take on Inter Milan to try and top their Champions League group.

Real Sociedad need a draw against Inter to top the group, as that would give them an equal head-to-head record, and Real Sociedad have the better goal difference across all group matches.

But playing away from home, that’s not going to be a straightforward task.
