Aaron Ramsdale’s father, Nick Ramsdale, has shared insights into the Arsenal goalkeeper’s situation following David Raya’s arrival at the club.

Aaron Ramsdale’s father, Nick Ramsdale, has revealed that the Arsenal goalkeeper was unaware he would not continue playing following David Raya‘s arrival at the club on loan from Brentford.

Speaking to the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Nick Ramsdale expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the situation, admitting the family, including Aaron, was clueless about the change.

Nick Ramsdale praised Raya as a “great goalkeeper” and acknowledged that his son and Raya have a good working relationship, with Aaron helping Raya settle in with the squad.

However, he conveyed a sense of disappointment, stating, “It’s possibly the way it’s been done. Not knowing the reason why…we did not have a clue, I didn’t have a clue, our family didn’t have a clue, Aaron didn’t have a clue that he was not going to carry on playing.”

His father continued, suggesting that Aaron Ramsdale is now positioned as the cup goalkeeper, while Raya assumes the role of the main goalkeeper, a situation Aaron has to accept without being officially informed. “Aaron’s got to live with that and he is living with that even though he’s not been told it. By anybody,” he said.

This is not the first time Nick Ramsdale has publicly commented on his son’s career.

He previously made remarks about pundit Jamie Carragher’s ‘joke’ regarding the goalkeeper, to which Aaron Ramsdale later responded.

Ramsdale acknowledged his father’s comments, stating, “It doesn’t help that my dad does it – but it was on a golf trip in Spain with 19 other lads from the local pub – to be honest, I wasn’t too mad at him. He didn’t say anything out of turn, it just wasn’t helpful for the situation, he knew that. He obviously just had a few too many on the golf course!”
