Arsenal’s Charlie Patino was initially a starter on loan with Swansea City, making plenty of appearances from the start of August until the end of October.

But things took a downward turn with Patino’s red card against Sunderland.

Though Michael Duff argued that both bookings were harsh, and Patino was only suspended for one match, he didn’t return to the starting lineup for the next four games.

Patino evidently needed to win his spot in the team back, and he did so with a goal against Huddersfield last weekend. The midfielder casually finessed a shot into the far corner to earn Swansea a 1-1 draw.

Earning a start against Rotherham United on Saturday, Patino took advantage with another goal, but this one was a little more bizarre.

Jamie Paterson whipped an early ball in from the right-hand side, and it appeared to be heading for Yannick Bolasie.

Bolasie attempted a finish, but couldn’t quite reach the ball. Instead, it came through to Patino, who had half turned his body to avoid getting in his teammate’s way.

The ball hit Patino on the back and squirmed into the net, giving Swansea the lead. You can watch the goal here or below from the timestamp 3:05.

Swansea ended up winning the match 2-1, helping them up to 16th in the Championship table.
