Arsenal won’t sell Eddie Nketiah in the January transfer window, according to a report, despite previous claims to the contrary.

Football journalist Alan Nixon reports that Eddie Nketiah won’t be sold in the January transfer window, despite increasing interest from Premier League clubs.

Arsenal reportedly view Nketiah as a crucial member of their squad as they push for the Premier League title, so he’s set to remain with the Gunners for the winter window.

Sami Mokbel recently reported for the Daily Mail that Nketiah is attracting interest around the Premier League at the moment, with Arsenal already having knocked back at least one enquiry from a top-flight side for the striker.

Mokbel points out that Nketiah could represent an attractive sale for the Arsenal accountants, as his departure would be registered as pure profit from an FFP standpoint.

Usually, sales are netted off against the amortised value of a player’s signing fee for FFP purposes. But as an Arsenal academy product, Nketiah’s sale would be 100% profit.

Fabrizio Romano then wrote that there’s interest in Nketiah from five or six Premier League clubs, as well as some Bundesliga clubs.

Romano added that Arsenal are still happy with Nketiah, and there are no concrete or advanced negotiations ongoing. He claimed the Gunners aren’t at all desperate to sell the striker.

Based on Nixon’s update, the Gunners aren’t looking to sell at all.

Arsenal appear increasingly likely to sign a new striker in 2024, and Gabriel Jesus remains very popular at the club, so Nketiah looks like the more likely of the two to make way.

But the January market won’t be an easy one to make new signings in. Until Arsenal can bring someone in, they’re probably not going to sell Nketiah.
