Reiss Nelson is attracting loan interest from clubs in Europe’s top-five leagues, but he’s currently leaning towards staying with Arsenal.

James Benge reports for CBS Sports that Reiss Nelson is attracting interest from La Liga side Sevilla and Premier League rivals Wolves for a loan move in the January transfer window.

As it stands, the reports adds that Nelson is leaning towards staying with Arsenal and fighting for his place in Mikel Arteta’s team.

Nelson came on for a 26-minute cameo in Arsenal’s defeat to West Ham United on Thursday night, his longest appearance of the Premier League campaign so far.

The winger has only played 87 Premier League minutes in total in 2023/24, with the rest of his 500 minutes coming in the Champions League, the League Cup, and one game in the EFL Trophy (a youth competition).

To an extent, you’d wonder why Nelson would want to stick around in those circumstances.

But the 24-year-old has always been clear about his love for the club, and perhaps he also sees an opening in front of him.

Neither Gabriel Martinelli nor Leandro Trossard are in particularly good form at the moment, which is a large part of the reason why Nelson ended up getting minutes on Thursday.

Nelson has a goal and two assists in his 409 senior minutes this season, so he’s shown glimpses that he can be the player to step up.

If Nelson doesn’t get any further opportunities in the few games between now and the end of the January transfer window, perhaps then he’ll start to take the loan interest in him more seriously.
