Albert Sambi Lokonga put in an impressive display to help Luton Town to a win over Sheffield United on Boxing Day, including an assist and two clearances off the line.

Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga recently returned to the Luton Town starting lineup, after an injury early on in his loan spell forced him out of action for two and a half months.

After a start in the 1-0 win over Newcastle United just before Christmas, Lokonga made the lineup again for Luton’s trip to Sheffield United on Boxing Day.

Within 17 minutes, the Arsenal midfielder had already had an impact, setting up Luton’s opening goal.

It was a fairly simple assist, in all honesty. Lokonga played a pass out wide to Alfie Doughty, who was free on the right, and the Luton wide man drove inside before finishing through the goalkeeper’s legs.

Lokonga was then desperately unlucky not to deny Sheffield United a goal in the second half, as he made multiple goalline interventions.

The Arsenal man made a fantastic sliding challenge to prevent a tap-in, then made a block on the line from Cameron Archer. But as the ball squirmed away from the incident it fell to Anel Ahmedhodzic, who finally finished the chance.

Thankfully for Luton, two own goals saw them turning the game back in their favour for another three points, leaving Sheffield United six points behind them.
