Frida Maanum has been named the Football Supporters’ Association’s Women’s Player of the Year for 2023, following an impressive campaign in the Women’s Super League (WSL).

The Norwegian midfielder, renowned for her dynamic playing style, has been instrumental in Arsenal‘s success, contributing significantly to the team’s achievements.

During her second season in the WSL, Maanum recorded nine goals and four assists, showcasing her skill and versatility on the field.

One of her most notable moments came with an exquisite strike against Bayern Munich, which propelled Arsenal to their first UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final in a decade.

Maanum’s performances have been consistently outstanding, earning her the accolade of Player of the Month twice last term.

Her contributions were further recognised when she was included in the Professional Footballers’ Association Team of the Year, a testament to her high regard among her peers and experts in the sport.

Currently, Maanum is in exceptional form, having scored three goals in her last three games. This scoring streak has further strengthened Arsenal‘s position in the league and highlighted Maanum’s growing influence in the team.

Her ability to consistently deliver under pressure has been a key factor in Arsenal‘s performances.

The FSA Women’s Player of the Year award, decided by fan votes, was presented at the FSA Awards on Monday evening.

Maanum’s victory in this category, overcoming strong competition from players like Chelsea’s Lauren James, Manchester United’s Mary Earps, and Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly, is a clear indication of her popularity and impact in women’s football.
