Reports linking Aaron Ramsdale with a move to Chelsea have been played down, despite initial claims that he’s becoming a “top target” for the club.
Last month, talkSPORT reported that Aaron Ramsdale was emerging as a top target for Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Alex Crook claims the Blues are willing to push hard to sign Ramsdale next summer, as they know signing the £50m-rated goalkeeper mid-season would be difficult.
But Crook adds that Ramsdale is reluctant to make rash decisions on his future, despite David Raya’s increasing hold over the number-one position at Arsenal.
The report concluded that Newcastle United are another potential option for Ramsdale, particularly with his former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe at the club.
Yet Fabrizio Romano has played down the report, particularly the links to Chelsea.
Romano claims Ramsdale is not part of Chelsea’s shortlist for a new goalkeeper, and no negotiations are taking place.
As it stands, Chelsea are reportedly remaining quiet on targets in the goalkeeper position, with no talks ongoing for a move in the January window.
It wouldn’t be particularly surprising if one or two of the top Premier League clubs were looking at Ramsdale’s situation, considering the goalkeeper has lost his starting spot and he’s still probably a better player than most of Arsenal’s rivals have.
But it seems the current links are mostly just speculative at this stage.
