As Aston Villa gear up for the arrival of Arsenal in the Premier League, Unai Emery is focused on evaluating his squad’s readiness following their recent victory over Manchester City.

Concurrently, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also addressed his team’s fitness concerns.

Unai Emery, the head coach of Aston Villa, is set to assess his squad before their highly anticipated Premier League match against league leaders Arsenal.

The upcoming game follows Villa’s remarkable 1-0 victory over Manchester City on Wednesday, equalling a club record of 14 consecutive home league wins.

Emery, speaking at a pre-match media conference on Friday afternoon, indicated the importance of recovery after a busy week, with the team having played three matches in just seven days.

He noted the lack of detailed information on some injuries and emphasised the criticality of assessing the players’ physical and mental readiness on the day before the match.

“We are going to train in two hours,” Emery said.

“We had to rest a lot after the match we played on Wednesday, we (also) played on Sunday and last Thursday.

“And the players at the beginning, we are not having a lot of information about some injuries.

“But it’s going to be very, very important the last day until tomorrow, how the players as well can tell me physically and mentally how they are for tomorrow.”

Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendía are currently their only long-term absentees.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has updated the status of the team ahead of the weekend’s fixture.

There were concerns about Gabriel Martinelli, who was on the end of several rough challenges in the match against Luton Town and had to be substituted. Addressing these concerns, Arteta stated, “I think everybody is going to be okay.”

Arteta indicated that while Thomas Partey is progressing well, it is too early to provide a specific timeline for his return. “We don’t know; he is getting a very good evolution of the injury, but it’s a bit early to get a timeframe. That will be incredibly fast if he’s able to do that [return for Liverpool], so we will have to wait,” he said.

Arsenal will also miss the services of Takehiro Tomiyasu, sidelined with a calf injury.

Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira and Jurrien Timber are also unavailable.
