On Saturday, Arsenal secured a 2-1 win over Wolves at the Emirates Stadium, consolidating their position at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal took an early lead through Bukayo Saka, who scored after a move involving Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Saka’s opening goal was Arsenal‘s 100th of the year, marking another milestone for this team. The Gunners became only the fifth team in Europe’s top five leagues to score more than 100 goals this year, joining the ranks of Manchester City (137), Real Madrid (119), Bayern Munich (111), and Bayer Leverkusen (110), with Arsenal’s total standing at 101.

He has now also scored 36 goals in the Premier League for Arsenal, surpassing Cesc Fàbregas‘s tally of 35.

Additionally, Saka joins Mohamed Salah as the only two players to have scored or assisted in 10 different Premier League games this season

Arsenal quickly doubled their advantage with a goal from Martin Odegaard, following delightfully filthy one-touch play between Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko that allowed the captain to sweep home.

Wolves struggled to contain Arsenal‘s attack, especially Saka and Martinelli, and were unable to break out of their defensive third. Arsenal had several more chances in the first half, with Trossard and Martinelli coming close, while a miscommunication in the Arsenal defence provided Wolves with a rare opportunity.

The second half saw Arsenal start strong, before shifting to a more controlled approach. Despite this, Declan Rice and Saka had chances to extend the lead.

However, Zinchenko‘s dithering allowed Wolves to pull one back through Matheus Cunha, leading to a nervy finish.

Eddie Nketiah almost sealed the win for Arsenal, hitting the post in the dying minutes.

Despite nearly nine minutes of added time and some handball appeals from Wolves, Arsenal held on to secure three crucial points and their third win in a week, but it was certainly a lot more tense than it needed to be.
