Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly in a tight contest to sign Arthur Vermeeren, the 18-year-old midfielder from Royal Antwerp, who is also attracting attention from FC Barcelona.

Both London clubs have intensified their interest in Vermeeren, who is considered one of the most coveted young talents in European football.

Vermeeren has been a standout performer for Royal Antwerp, particularly catching the eye of scouts during their clash with Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

A product of Antwerp’s youth system, the Belgian youngster has made a significant impact in his debut season in 2022/23, becoming a regular feature in the team.

With 62 appearances, three goals, and seven assists to his name, Vermeeren has drawn interest from several top clubs across Europe.

Arsenal are said to be considering him as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey, while Tottenham view him as an ideal successor to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Barcelona, too, have shown interest in Vermeeren, seeing him as a possible long-term reinforcement for their midfield.
