Arsenal have made a decision regarding the future of Jorginho, the Italian midfielder who joined the club earlier this year.

According to Football Insider, the Gunners have resolved to allow Jorginho to leave at the end of the season, not intending to renew his contract, nor activate his 12-month option, thus permitting him to depart as a free agent.

Jorginho, who first made a name for himself at Napoli before a significant €57m move to Chelsea in 2018, played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League triumph in the 2020/21 season.

His €11.3m transfer to Arsenal was only ever seen as a temporary solution to deepen the midfield squad. However, as the season concludes, Arsenal are already prepared to let him go.

Despite not being a regular starter under Mikel Arteta, Jorginho has been influential for Arsenal, contributing to 33 appearances since his arrival and been a trusted player for Mikel Arteta in big games.

The future for Jorginho seems to lean towards a return to Italy, where he has previously indicated a desire to play again.

His experience and skills have garnered interest from several Serie A clubs, suggesting his next career move might see him return to Italian football.

As for Arsenal, the club is actively seeking options to strengthen their midfield in the upcoming transfer window, ensuring they continue to field a competitive team in future competitions.
