West Ham could be missing a couple of players through injury against Arsenal, according to David Moyes, though he wouldn’t give too much away.
Arsenal take on West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday night, looking to progress to the League Cup quarter-finals with a win.
The Gunners will be missing a few players through injury, but it initially seemed like the hosts had a clean bill of health for the fixture.
Yet in his pre-match press conference, David Moyes suggested they’ve been keeping a couple of injury problems quiet ahead of the Arsenal game.
“Behind the scenes, we’ve got a couple of injuries which we are having to deal with at the moment,” Moyes said. “They’re from the game at the weekend.
“I won’t say too much at the moment. We’ve just got a couple of knocks and there’s one or two who could maybe be missing.”
It’s hard to know exactly who Moyes might be referring to.
Michail Antonio, James Ward-Prowse, and Aaron Cresswell were all substituted against Everton, so they could be good bets, but the West Ham boss is clearly playing his cards close to his chest to keep Arsenal guessing.
Elsewhere in the West Ham squad, both Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season over the weekend, but they will be available against Arsenal (assuming they’re fit).
Yellow-card suspensions don’t carry over across competitions, so Paqueta and Alvarez will serve their suspensions against Brentford this weekend.
