The VAR audio from the check on Anthony Gordon’s goal for Newcastle United against Arsenal will be released on Tuesday night.
The Daily Mail report that the PGMOL have warned Arsenal that the VAR audio from Newcastle United’s winning goal against Arsenal will be released in Howard Webb’s Match Officials Mic’d Up show on Tuesday night.
The Mail also report that Arsenal wrote back to the FA on Monday morning with regards to their request for explanations for the post-match comments and statements from Mikel Arteta and the Gunners.
Arsenal lost 1-0 to Newcastle at St. James’ Park on Saturday, November 4th, but the game turned on a couple of major VAR calls.
The first was when Bruno Guimaraes hit Jorginho in the head and escaped punishment, whilst the second was when Newcastle’s goal was allowed to stand despite multiple potential reasons to overturn it.
As it stands, there’s no word on whether the Guimaraes red-card incident will feature in Webb’s review.
Whilst many fans will tune in desperate to hear an explanation for both decisions, not just the goal, the question is whether it really makes any difference.
Whatever explanations and excuses they give, Arsenal won’t get a point back. The Gunners won’t get the chance to play the second half against 10 men.
As Arteta put it after the game: “I don’t care honestly, I don’t care what they say. It’s the outcome. It’s too late, whatever they say is too late.”
