Takehiro Tomiyasu has returned to full training with Japan and insisted he has no injury problems despite his absence from their last squad.
When Japan announced their squad to face Myanmar in a World Cup qualifier last Thursday, Takehiro Tomiyasu was a notable absentee from both the lineup and the bench.
In the build-up to that game, Japanese outlet Hochi News reported that Tomiyasu wasn’t always involved in full training with the squad, taking on an individualised regime.
Japan justified this by citing fatigue, with the national team ensuring that Tomiyasu was properly rested.
The good news is that Yomiuri report that the Arsenal defender has now returned to full training, and the player told the media: “There are no problems (with my fitness).
“It’s an away game, so I want to read the flow of the game and play accordingly.”
There had been some worries about Tomiyasu’s fitness ahead of Arsenal’s game against Burnley last Saturday, but the player managed to complete the 90 minutes on that occasion.
After the game, Mikel Arteta revealed that the defender had an issue with his contact lens, but that appeared to be his only problem.
Japan face Syria away from home in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, November 21st at 14:45 GMT.
