Charles Sagoe Jr. is set to feature in Arsenal’s Champions League squad to take on Sevilla on Wednesday night, and he may not be the only youth player involved.

Arsenal Youth report that Charles Sagoe Jr. is set to be named on the bench for Arsenal in their game against Sevilla on Wednesday night, after being left out of the u19 game against the same opposition earlier in the day.

Amario Cozier-Duberry is also a notable absentee from the u19 lineup, suggesting he may also be in the first-team setup, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Cozier-Duberry was named in the provisional squad as a backup, but not included in the team or on the bench.

With all the injuries in the Arsenal first-team squad at the moment, there will be spaces for youth players.

Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe, and Jurrien Timber all look like missing the Sevilla game, and Eddie Nketiah could also be absent.

That would leave Arsenal with just 19 players for their 23-man squad, even including all three goalkeepers.

So there should be three or four spaces for Arsenal to fill, but they won’t necessarily fill them all. The Gunners only submitted a squad of 22 against PSV, rather than calling up a youth player.

At the very least, it seems Sagoe Jr. is set to be involved this time, having made his first-team debut in the League Cup earlier in the season.

The young winger has nine goal contributions in 12 games for the Arsenal u21s and u19s this season, including scoring against the Sevilla u19s in the last UEFA Youth League match.

Now he has the opportunity to step up to a senior Champions League squad for the first time.
