Reports of a Chelsea agreement to sign Gabriel Moscardo have been denied, with Arsenal still in the race for the Brazilian teenager.
Earlier this week, reports from Brazil suggested Chelsea had agreed a deal to sign Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians, but these claims have been shot down by other sources.
Ryan Taylor of the Mirror reports that no deal has been agreed between Chelsea and Corinthians, and the race remains open.
Taylor adds that Chelsea did bid for Moscardo in August, and he’s a player they like. But Arsenal are another club to send scouts to watch the 18-year-old in recent months, and the Gunners aren’t out of it yet.
Fabrizio Romano reports that as well as the English clubs, Paris Saint-Germain are keen on Moscardo. Romano confirms that there’s no agreement with Chelsea yet, and it doesn’t look imminent at this stage.
Moscardo had also been linked with Liverpool in the past, but Liverpool correspondent Neil Jones reported over the international break that both Chelsea and Arsenal had shown far more interest in Moscardo than Liverpool.
Brazilian outlets claimed over the summer that Arsenal were one of the clubs to watch in the race for Moscardo, as people linked to the Gunners had been in touch with Corinthians representatives to get information on the player.
Only just 18 years old, Moscardo has already made 23 appearances for Corinthians’ first team this season, playing a defensive midfield role.
The teenager is now catching the eye over in Europe, and it seems he could have some high-profile suitors in the coming windows.
