The Arsenal u21s will learn their EFL Trophy Round-of-32 opponents later this week, with only four potential options.
The EFL have confirmed that the draw for the first knockout round of the EFL Trophy will take place on Friday, November 24th at 18:30 GMT, with the Arsenal u21s waiting to learn who they’ll face.
The draw will be live on Sky Sports in the build-up to the match between Rotherham United and Leeds United.
Arsenal finished as runners-up in their EFL Trophy group, which means they’ll face one of the group winners in the next round.
The draw has then been regionalised, with two sets of teams in the Northern Section and two sets in the Southern Section.
As a result, from the 31 other teams remaining in the competition, there are only four that Arsenal (ball 15) can draw: Forest Green Rovers (ball 1), Crawley Town (ball 2), Wycombe Wanderers (ball 3), or Peterborough United (ball 4).
The group winners will play at home, so Arsenal will be visiting one of the above four on their own turf.
The Arsenal u21s have faced all four of their potential opponents over the last five years, three of them in this competition.
Joe Willock and Tyreece John-Jules scored the goals in a 3-1 win over Forest Green Rovers back in 2018, whilst Peterborough United came out on the winning side of a 1-0 result in 2019.
Jordan McEneff and Miguel Azeez scored in a 2-1 win over Crawley Town in 2020, and the Arsenal u21s faced Wycombe Wanderers for a friendly in pre-season this summer.

There’s a lot of turnover in youth teams from season to season, so it’s unlikely most of that experience will mean much for this year’s game. But the Wycombe Wanderers friendly may have given Mehmet Ali some ideas if the young Gunners draw them.
