Arsenal’s Mika Biereth has impressed in the early stages of his loan to Motherwell, despite a two-month knee injury keeping him out of action for much of the campaign so far.

Biereth has appeared in just six of Motherwell’s 13 games so far this season, starting two of those. But he’s broken into the starting lineup this week, and he made the most of his second start to score his fourth goal on Tuesday.

Motherwell were taking on St. Johnstone away from home in the Scottish Premiership, and they found themselves 2-0 down within the opening half an hour.

But the away side rallied midway through the second half, and after Shane Blaney cut the lead to one, Biereth scored the equalising goal.

Georgie Gent picked the ball up on the left-hand side, whipping a low cross into the box for Biereth to fire into the net for 2-2.

The goal was enough to earn Motherwell a point, though the draw extended a run of eight league games without a win.

Despite Motherwell’s poor form, Biereth now has four goals and two assists in just 279 minutes on the pitch for his loan club. He’s doing very well on an individual basis, and he’s now shown he’s not just a super-sub.

Biereth is now up to joint-seventh in the Scottish Premiership top-scorer standings, just two goals off the top.

Motherwell are next in action against Hearts on Saturday, November 11th at 15:00 GMT.
