Arsenal are lining up a contract extension for Takehiro Tomiyasu, with the defender’s form this season convincing the club to keep him at all costs.

Multiple outlets have reported in recent days that Arsenal want to keep Takehiro Tomiyasu at the club, despite interest from Bayern Munich.
The Telegraph claim that Arsenal have lined up a new contract for Tomiyasu, and they’re preparing to negotiate with the Japanese international.
The Daily Mail confirm that Arsenal are preparing to open talks, despite adding that the Gunners were ready to listen to offers for Tomiyasu over the summer.
There was significant interest from around the Premier League and Europe over the summer, but Jurrien Timber’s injury put Tomiyasu back into the team, and there are no plans to sell him anymore.

On the interest from Bayern Munich, the Evening Standard write that Arsenal will reject any approach, fully intending to keep a player viewed as a valuable member of the squad.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Tomiyasu himself isn’t looking to move elsewhere anyway. He’s happy at Arsenal, and it’s just a case of discussing new terms with the Gunners.
On that subject, Romano concludes that there are no issues with a potential new contract as it stands.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany initially broke the news that Munich were very interested in Tomiyasu in the summer transfer window.
Though nothing came of their interest at the time, Bayern are now hoping to sign Tomiyasu in the January transfer window instead, according to the report.
But a winter transfer is still viewed as very unrealistic, as Arsenal “absolutely” want to keep Tomiyasu in north London.
