Eddie Nketiah was missing from Arsenal‘s squad that beat Sevilla 2-0 on Wednesday night, so what is the latest on the striker?

Eddie Nketiah has scored three goals in two games since stepping up again following Gabriel Jesus‘s latest injury.

It was, then, something of a disappointment to see that he was not included in the Arsenal squad for the game against Sevilla on Wednesday night at the Emirates, which saw Arsenal move to within one point of qualification for the knockout rounds thanks to a 2-0 win.

Before the game, Arsenal tweeted to say that Nketiah missed out due to ‘an ankle knock’ believed to have been picked up in the game against Newcastle at the weekend.

After the game, with Arsenal’s injury list growing rapidly, Mikel Arteta was asked about the 24-year-old, and Martin Odegaard who also missed the game.

“They are racing against the clock to be fit, and they are trying their best and they tried to be here today with us,” Arteta said.

“It wasn’t possible, and now we have another 48 hours before we play Burnley. We will try again and we will see because we need players at the moment.”

While Nketiah‘s recovery seems straightforward and he has a good chance of being back this weekend, Martin Odegaard‘s problem seems to be a bit more complicated.
