Liverpool’s Alisson picked up an injury in their draw with Manchester City at the weekend, which could put his participation against Arsenal in doubt.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson played the full 90 minutes against Manchester City on Saturday, but there was some concern over his fitness at the final whistle.

The goalkeeper had gone down injured with a couple of minutes of the match remaining, and it’s likely the only reason he didn’t come off was that Liverpool had made all of their substitutions already.

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp suggested there was an issue, but they didn’t know how serious it was yet.

“The shadow on this game is obviously that Ali felt something,” Klopp said. “Something we have to assess, and then we will see.

“I hope it’s not that serious, but I don’t have the answer – no clue in the moment what it is.

“I spoke to him and he said he only felt [it] a little bit, but we have to wait for the scan.”

With Alisson going to ground clutching the back of his leg, the expectation is that it’s a hamstring injury.

The Evening Standard write that the hamstring problem could see the goalkeeper ruled out for anywhere between a few weeks to the rest of the year, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The exact timeline is relevant to Arsenal because it’s not long until the Gunners’ trip to Anfield.

Arsenal face Liverpool away from home on December 23rd, less than a month from now.

There have been some rumours of a five-week absence for Alisson on social media, which would rule him out of the Arsenal game, but these are very much unconfirmed and appear to be based on a single Twitter user citing an unnamed source.

For now, the reliable reports suggest we don’t know exactly how long Alisson will be out, so whether or not he’ll be able to play against Arsenal remains to be seen.
