Arsenal contract talks with Ben White remain ongoing, though they have been constructive so far and the club are confident of a deal.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Ben White is Arsenal’s priority for a new contract, but at the moment talks are still ongoing, with no resolution.
James McNicholas adds for The Athletic that White is indeed the next name on the contract agenda, and Arsenal are looking to tie him down to a long-term deal.
Constructive talks have already taken place, according to the report, and Arsenal are confident of an agreement. But evidently, they haven’t come to one yet.
Sky Sports recently reported that Arsenal’s contract discussions with White were progressing positively, as the player himself told them he wants to stay for as long as possible.
“Yeah, of course,” White said. “I want to stay at Arsenal for as long as I can, stay at the highest level, and push this club back to where it needs to be.
“Whenever that’s spoken about, it’s an amazing feeling that someone wants you. I’ve still got a few years left on my current contract, so even to be speaking about it is a nice feeling.”
Negotiations have been ongoing since August, and the player is happy with his current club.
The Gunners are just hoping to get the deal done, sorting out another contract situation before it becomes a problem. White still has three years on his current deal with Arsenal.
As it stands, White earns around £120,000 a week, but he’d receive a significant increase with his new deal.
White has proven a key player for Mikel Arteta since signing from Brighton and Hove Albion, playing 97 times for the Gunners.
The defender has played 14 times (13 starts) for Arsenal this season already, featuring in every single game in all competitions and only failing to complete the full 90 minutes on two occasions.
