Arsenal are holding talks with Belgium over Leandro Trossard, following his hamstring injury against Manchester City.
Leandro Trossard started Arsenal’s game against Manchester City on Sunday, with Gabriel Martinelli only just having returned from injury and not fit to play 90 minutes.
But Trossard picked up an injury of his own in the first half, with Mikel Arteta confirming that the player “felt something in his hamstring”.
Trossard was in line to link up with Belgium for England duty, but Simon Collings reports Arsenal are now in talks with the national team over his involvement.
The good news is that Collings adds the hamstring tweak is not thought to be serious.
The fact Trossard hasn’t already been ruled out of international duty is a positive sign, and hopefully, he’ll be ready to go again after the break.
Arsenal also have other options on the left now, with Gabriel Martinelli returning to the squad, Gabriel Jesus playing some games on that side recently, and Reiss Nelson available as well.
So there shouldn’t be any pressure to rush the 28-year-old back, and a rest over the international break would be ideal.
Trossard has already had some key involvements for Arsenal this season, scoring the winning goal against Everton, scoring the equaliser against Manchester City in the Community Shield, and bagging a goal and an assist in the Champions League against PSV.
With Belgium, the forward scored a peach of a goal in their 5-0 thrashing of Estonia in September.
But given Belgium are seven points clear of third place in their qualification group, with two teams qualifying from each group and just three games remaining, they can probably survive without Trossard this time.
