Ivan Toney is keen to join Arsenal in 2024, but the links may be coming more from his side than anywhere else at this stage.
The Mirror and the Daily Mail report that Brentford striker Ivan Toney is keen on a move to Arsenal in January, when his suspension from football is up.
Football insider Team News and Ticks claims the rumours linking Arsenal with Toney are largely coming from his agent right now, at the player’s request.
But the Mirror and the Mail claim Arsenal are interested in signing the player in January, and the question is only whether they can afford the asking price.
According to previous reports, Brentford are set to demand at least £60m for the sale, but they could want as much as £80m.
Toney is currently suspended from football due to breaching FA rules on gambling, but he’s back in training, and he’ll be able to play again in January.
The player is reportedly keen to leave Brentford, and Arsenal reportedly would almost certainly have made a bid over the summer if Toney hadn’t been banned.
Toney switched agency to join CAA Stellar Group earlier this year, in another sign that he’s chasing a transfer.
Toney scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League games for Brentford last season, before his ban.
The 27-year-old was in the form of his career, and he’ll hope a top club is willing to take a chance on him in the upcoming window despite his lack of recent matches.
