Charles Sagoe Jr. and Reuell Walters joined Arsenal’s first-team training session ahead of the weekend’s match against Manchester City.

Arsenal shared pictures of their most recent training session on Friday, and a couple of youth players could be spotted among the first-team stars.

Forward Charles Sagoe Jr. and defender Reuell Walters were both involved, and the duo appear to be the closest to first-team appearances at the moment.

Sagoe Jr. recently made his senior debut for Arsenal, playing 68 minutes of the 1-0 League Cup win over Brentford.

Whilst Walters is yet to make a competitive debut of his own, he’s played in a number of senior friendlies and he’s made the bench for 10 senior fixtures across the League Cup, Premier League, and the Europa League.

It’s unlikely either of the two players will be involved in the squad against Manchester City on Sunday.

For a start, Arsenal have a relatively short list of injuries at the moment, with only Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka as doubts or confirmed absentees this weekend.

The Premier League squad is also slightly smaller than the Champions League, with only nine spots on the bench compared to the 12 in Europe.

Given neither player made the squad against RC Lens on Tuesday, the chances of a Premier League opportunity are slim.

But Sagoe Jr. and Walters will still benefit from continuing to train with the senior players, and they’ll keep themselves in Mikel Arteta’s thinking for when the opportunities for academy players do come around.
