Arsenal winger Marquinhos and Brazil are about to kick off their participation at the Pan American Games, playing the USA on Monday night.

On-loan Arsenal winger Marquinhos wasn’t involved with Nantes as they took on Montpellier on Sunday, as the Brazilian is set to play with the Brazil u23s at the Pan American Games over the next week and beyond.

The Pan American Games are similar to the Olympic Games, but on a smaller scale, featuring only athletes from countries in the Americas.

Like at the Olympics, football features as a sport, but the teams are largely restricted to under-23 players. Arsenal’s Marquinhos has been called up by his country for the tournament.

The games begin with a group stage. There are two groups, and Brazil are one of four teams in Group B, alongside the USA, Colombia, and Honduras.

The teams all play each other once, and the top two teams in the group progress to the semi-finals, with third place in each group progressing to the fifth-place match, and fourth place progressing to the seventh-place match.

As a result, Brazil will play at least four games at the tournament, even if they lose all of them.

But if they win enough to finish in the top two, they’ll play five games, either playing the semi-final and final or the semi-final and third-place match.

Brazil kick off their tournament against the USA on Monday night, playing against the USA at 10pm UK time.

They’ll then face Colombia and Honduras later in the week, before playing their first knockout game on November 1st and their second knockout game (if applicable) on November 4th.
