Former Gunner Marcelo Flores scored his first goal for new club Tigres UANL on Saturday night, after coming on as a substitute.
After completing his transfer to Tigres last month, ex-Arsenal academy youngster Marcelo Flores is still waiting for his first start, but he already has his first goal for his new side.
Tigres are evidently looking to ease Flores into action at the moment, handing him substitute appearances in six of their last seven league games.
Most recently, the 20-year-old came on against Chivas, and he made the appearance count.
Just a few minutes after coming on, Flores thought he’d scored as he cut inside from the left and fired a shot towards the net.
But Chivas goalkeeper Miguel Jimenez was alert to make an excellent save and keep the score at 3-0.
A couple of minutes later, Flores had his goal. Tigres countered after a Chivas corner, and Flores stayed ahead of his man to pounce on the end of a low cross from Nicolas Ibanez.
The young Mexico international wheeled away and pulled off his trademark flip celebration, the first time it’s been seen in senior football.

Flores left Arsenal to join Tigres over the summer, departing on a permanent deal for a fee of around £2m.
According to reports, Flores signed a four-year deal with his new side, moving to the country of his international allegiances.
Speaking to the media in September, Mikel Arteta gave his thoughts on the youngster.
“He has a tremendous future, he is a player with a lot of personality,” Arteta said.
“He returns to his country, I imagine that will mean a lot to him, I hope it goes well for him.”
