Triallist Mason Cotcher provided a goal and an assist as the Arsenal u18s drew 3-3 away to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Sunderland youth forward Mason Cotcher is currently holding a trial with Arsenal, and the teenager impressed on his league debut for the young Gunners on Saturday.
Late in the first half of the Arsenal u18s’ away trip to Crystal Palace, Cotcher gave the Gunners the lead with a poacher’s effort.
The forward had initially found himself free in the centre of the box, but his left-footed shot was well saved by Palace’s William Eastwood.
The ball was recycled for another chance, and it eventually fell back to Cotcher, who fired into the roof of the net for 1-0.
Palace rallied in the second half with a couple of quickfire goals for 2-1, but Cotcher was involved again as Arsenal drew level in the 68th minute.
The triallist worked hard to close down the Palace defence, leading to Bless Akolbire picking the ball up after a loose pass.
Akolbire exchanged a one-two with Cotcher, before finishing the chance for 2-2.
Once again, Palace rallied, quickly scoring a third goal to retake the lead. But Arsenal escaped with a point after substitute Omari Benjamin headed in Kamarni Ryan’s late cross for 3-3.
The highlights of the game are available on the Arsenal website.
