Not for the first time, the Arsenal u18s played out a match with plenty of drama this weekend, though they managed to end up on the winning side this time.

Between the September and October international breaks, Jack Wilshere’s u18 side have struggled to keep out of the headlines.

The u18s kicked things off with a dramatic 2-2 draw against Reading, in which two Reading players and one Arsenal player were sent off.

The Gunners then smashed Southampton 4-0, with young Chido Obi scoring a hat-trick, before losing to Chelsea 3-2 in a match involving another Arsenal red card.

If the team were hoping to avoid further drama with the referee on Saturday, they would have been quickly disappointed, as Leicester City were awarded a first-half penalty for handball. Thankfully, Reece Evans missed the target.

But things only got worse in the second half. Obi was sent off for a high foot, and Kaleb Dyke gave the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Arsenal rallied, and a Michal Rosiak free-kick followed by a clinical Omari Benjamin finish helped the team to turn things around for 2-1 with six minutes left.

Kamarni Ryan was involved in both goals, winning the free-kick for the first and setting up the second.

The game wasn’t done yet, with goalscorer Benjamin sent off for a second yellow card in the 86th minute.

Fortunately, Arsenal’s nine men managed to survive four more minutes of normal time and seven minutes of added time to secure the three points.
