Sheffield United could be without 10 players through injury when they face Arsenal on Saturday, but George Baldock may yet be fit in time.
Sky Sports’ Ben Ransom reported on Thursday that Sheffield United’s injury list had hit double figures ahead of their trip to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Chris Basham, Anel Ahmedhodzic, George Baldock, Will Osula, Oli McBurnie, Rhys Norrington-Davies, John Egan, Tom Davies, Max Lowe, and Daniel Jebbison are all injury doubts at best for the weekend’s game, if not ruled out completely.
Ransom added that Baldock and McBurnie were the two most likely to return to fitness in time, and manager Paul Heckingbottom had updates on both in his pre-match press conference.
“George [Baldock] has trained today, and [will] tomorrow,” Heckingottom said. “It’s been a while and today was his first session but it’s good to have him in that place.
“One or two getting closer like Will Osula, Max Lowe… But not available for us yet.”
Heckingbottom was then asked about McBurnie, and he responded: “Not trained yet, no. [He’ll] get a scan today on that injury that he picked up.”
Elsewhere in the Sheffield United team, former Gunner Auston Trusty has been taking advantage of all the injuries to get his first couple of starts. He played 90 minutes against Fulham and Manchester United in their last two games.
Trusty never made a competitive appearance for Arsenal, but he’s now likely to get a start at the Emirates Stadium for the opposition.
