With the Euro 2024 qualifiers almost at an end, let’s take a look at which Arsenal players are likely to play at the tournament.
Now that the October international break is over, we’re really in the latter stages of Euro 2024 qualification. Only a handful of teams still have more than two qualifiers left to play, and a number of teams have already confirmed their spot at the tournament.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at which Arsenal players are likely to be involved.
Hosts
Germany are the hosts of Euro 2024, and have therefore qualified automatically. Kai Havertz is likely to be involved in their squad.
Group A
Scotland and Spain have now qualified for Euro 2024, which puts Kieran Tierney and David Raya in line for the tournament.
Norway can still hypothetically qualify through the play-offs, but as it stands they’re not in line for a play-off spot.
Even if they make it, only one in every four play-off teams will make the final tournament. So Martin Odegaard is unlikely to be involved as it stands.
Group B
France have qualified for Euro 2024. The Netherlands also sit in a qualification spot with the head-to-head advantage over third-place Greece, so they need just three points from their final two games against Ireland and Gibraltar.
William Saliba would probably go to the tournament with France, and Jurrien Timber is an outside bet for the Netherlands if he’s recovered from injury.
Group C
England have qualified for Euro 2024. Italy and Ukraine are battling it out for the second qualification spot, and it looks like it will come down to the final match between the two teams in November.
Assuming Italy beat North Macedonia, Ukraine would then need to beat Italy on the final day. The team finishing third will almost certainly make the play-offs for a second chance.
England’s qualification should send Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice to the tournament, and possibly one or two more from Eddie Nketiah, Ben White, Emile Smith Rowe, and Reiss Nelson.
Jorginho wasn’t called up for the latest two breaks, but assuming he gets decent minutes this season, he should be involved with Italy. Oleksandr Zinchenko would certainly go with Ukraine.
Group D
Arsenal don’t have any internationals in Group D.
Group E
Arsenal’s only international in Group E is Jakub Kiwior of Poland, but Poland are in a poor position in qualifying. They sit one point behind the Czech Republic in second, who have played a game fewer, with Moldova one point behind with a game in hand.
Even if Poland beat the Czech Republic in their final game, either the Czech Republic or Moldova could leapfrog them back in their games in hand.
The good news is that they’ll be involved in the play-offs, if they fail to qualify directly, so all hope is not lost yet.
Group F
Belgium have qualified, and they’ll take Leandro Trossard with them.
Estonia and Karl Hein won’t qualify through their qualification group, but they could still get a chance in the play-offs due to their Nations League success. However, with their poor form, they may still struggle to qualify even with that second chance.
Groups G, H, and I
Arsenal don’t have any internationals in Group G, H, and I.
Group J
Portugal have qualified, giving chances to Cedric Soares, Nuno Tavares, and Fabio Vieira. But none of those three are currently in the national team setup. Perhaps Vieira has a shot if he continues his positive progress in the early stages of this season.
Iceland and Runar Alex Runarsson don’t look likely to qualify, sitting six points back on the top two. But they’re currently in line for the play-offs.
Round-up and Prediction
Spain, Portugal, Belgium, France, England, and Scotland have all fully qualified for Euro 2024, and they all have Arsenal players in line for potential call-ups.
Austria and Turkey have also guaranteed qualification, but Arsenal don’t have any players from either country.
Kai Havertz (Germany), Kieran Tierney (Scotland), David Raya (Spain), William Saliba (France), Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka (England), Leandro Trossard (Belgium), and one of Jorginho (Italy) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (Ukraine) will probably go to Euro 2024.
There may still be others, with Norway, Poland, Estonia, and Iceland all potentially set to join one of Italy and Ukraine in the play-offs.
