Thomas Partey was absent from Arsenal’s squad during their recent Champions League clash against Sevilla, which they won 2-1.
Manager Mikel Arteta revealed that the midfielder is nursing a muscle injury, marking another setback in Partey’s season marred by injuries.
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey was sidelined for Arsenal’s recent 2-1 Champions League victory against Sevilla.
His absence was confirmed by the Gunners to be due to a “muscular issue”.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided further details in his pre-match interview with TNT Sports, stating, “Thomas picked up an injury yesterday in training, unfortunately it’s a muscle injury. We don’t know the extent of it – a big miss for us.”
Thomas Partey had recently returned to action after spending more than a month on the sidelines with a groin injury.
He had made a substitute appearance against Manchester City prior to the international break.
However, Partey did not feature in Arsenal’s recent 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Injury concerns have hampered Partey’s Arsenal career.
Arriving for €50m from Atletico Madrid in 2020, the 30-year-old has missed over 50 games for the club with a variety of problems including groin, ankle, hamstring, hip and thigh.
His contract with Arsenal expires in the summer of 2025 and, rather than talk of a new deal in London, most of the gossip around Partey involves his departure.
