Gabriel Jesus, the Arsenal forward, is set to undergo a scan for a hamstring injury he sustained during the recent Champions League victory over Sevilla.

The Brazilian player remains optimistic, stating he is “pretty sure it will be nothing”.

The injury occurred in the 81st minute of the match when Jesus seemed to tweak something as he rode a challenge from Sevilla’s Boubakary Soumare.

Despite being taken off limping after holding his hamstring, the forward remains confident that the issue is not serious.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Jesus said, “I felt something. Let’s see. I did some tests with the physio, it looks not that big, but let’s see. I have a scan, maybe tomorrow. I’m pretty sure it will be nothing.”

After the game, Mikel Arteta spoke about Jesus’s injury.

He told TNT, “He felt something in his hamstring. He straight away asked to be subbed, which is not good news, because he’s not the kind of player who does that. So we’ll have to wait and see in the next few days.”

Hamstring injuries can vary significantly in terms of severity and the time required for recovery.

The medical classification typically ranges from a Grade 1, which is a mild strain and might require two to three weeks for recovery, to a Grade 3, which involves a complete tear and could keep a player out for three months or more.

However, it’s worth noting that the time frames are merely indicative and can differ from player to player. Jesus’s scan in the coming days will provide more clarity on the extent of his injury.

Jesus scored the second goal in Arsenal‘s 2-1 win over Sevilla, contributing to the team’s move back to the top of their Champions League group.

The match also saw a goal from Gabriel Martinelli just before half-time, while Nemanja Gudelj managed to score for Sevilla five minutes later.

Despite the late effort from Sevilla, Arsenal managed to secure the win and regain the top position in Group B, which also includes Lens and PSV.

Arsenal‘s next fixtures include a Premier League match against Sheffield United this Saturday, followed by a League Cup trip to West Ham four days later. The team will also face Sevilla in a return Champions League fixture at the Emirates on 8 November.

With Jesus’s scan results pending, his availability for these upcoming matches remains uncertain.

However, given his own confidence that the injury is not severe, there is hope that the forward will soon be back to contribute to Arsenal’s ongoing campaigns.
