Arsenal have emerged as a leading contender in the pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s left winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, despite the player having recently extended his contract with the Bundesliga club until 2028.

German media, specifically Bild, have reported that Arsenal are ‘above all’ among Premier League clubs eyeing the 19-year-old, including rivals Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Arsenal are the reported front-runners to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who recently extended his contract until 2028.

Despite the new contract and increased valuation, the Gunners, led by manager Mikel Arteta, are still keen to secure the young talent.

Bynoe-Gittens, born in London and a current England U21 international, recently received a pay rise after renewing his contract with Dortmund, making any potential transfer deal a complex one.

Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta is said to be a ‘big fan’ of the player.

According to reports, ‘those in charge’ at the North London club see ‘huge potential’ in the winger, making them a strong competitor in any potential bid.

Last week, Bynoe-Gittens signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund, effectively tying him to the German club until 2028. This makes the task of negotiating a sale more challenging for Arsenal, along with Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Bynoe-Gittens made his move to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City’s academy in 2022 without a transfer fee.

Since then, he has successfully climbed the ranks to Dortmund’s first team, with his current market value rising to €14m according to Transfermarkt.

Before his time at Manchester City, he was part of Reading’s youth academy.

Although he has only made a few appearances for Dortmund’s first team, his potential has already been noted by several Premier League clubs. To complicate matters further for Arsenal, securing Bynoe-Gittens will be an uphill battle not just because of the new contract and increased market value, but also due to strong competition from other clubs.

In his short stint in the Bundesliga and the Champions League, he has already clocked up impressive minutes, although he is yet to find the back of the net.
