Rodri will miss Manchester City’s visit to the Emirates Stadium next month, with the club opting not to appeal against his three-match ban.

The Daily Mail report that Manchester City are not set to appeal Rodri’s three-game ban for the red card he picked up during their win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

The club have decided to let the suspension stand, which means the midfielder will miss Wednesday’s League Cup match against Newcastle United, Saturday’s Premier League game against Wolves, and next week’s visit to Arsenal.

In between the Wolves and Arsenal matches, Rodri will be eligible to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League group stages.

Rodri was dismissed for an incident involving Morgan Gibbs-White, early in the second half.

Gibbs-White and Rodri had tussled to win possession, and Rodri took issue with his opposition counterpart’s attempts to win the ball, turning to confront him.

With the ball out of play, Rodri raised his hands to Gibbs-White’s throat, and he was promptly dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor.

Pep Guardiola may well now opt to use the Spanish midfielder in City’s Champions League match, so he can rest his alternative options for Arsenal.

If he wasn’t suspended, you’d probably expect Rodri to start both games, and he’ll certainly be a miss for their three domestic matches without him.
