Arsenal’s ‘absurd request’ in Jorginho transfer talks
Arsenal have reportedly made what has been termed an ‘absurd request’ in talks surrounding the potential transfer of 31-year-old midfielder Jorginho.
Despite initial claims from the player’s agent that Jorginho would stay at Arsenal, the player has been linked with Fenerbahçe, which is keen to bring in a new No.6 midfielder.
The Turkish club are allegedly prepared to offer around €20m, but the situation is complicated by Arsenal’s cautious approach, largely due to Thomas Partey’s recent injury.
The nature of the ‘absurd request’ has not been disclosed, but it suggests Arsenal are playing hardball in negotiations.
Jorginho’s contract with Arsenal is set to run until 2024, with an option for an additional year.
