Nicolas Pepe is completing his transfer to Trabzonspor this morning, with Arsenal set to bring in a fee of around £3m.

On Thursday night, Turkish side Trabzonspor posted a picture of Nicolas Pepe wearing their shirt, as he caught a flight to the country.

“I came here to become a champion and achieve success,” Pepe said in a video on Trabzonspor’s social media pages.

Fabrizio Romano had confirmed that Pepe would be holding his medical on Friday morning, ahead of signing a short-term deal with Trabzonspor to June 2024.

But despite the short-term nature of his contract, the deal is a permanent departure from Arsenal.

GFFN report that Arsenal will receive a £3m transfer fee from Trabzonspor, with Pepe in the final year of his contract with the Gunners.

The winger was reportedly identified as surplus to requirements in the early days of Mikel Arteta’s spell at Arsenal, and that never changed over the following few years.

As a result, the £72m signing now leaves the club for next to nothing, and he’ll look to get his career back on track with Trabzonspor.

Pepe spent the 2022/23 campaign out on loan with OGC Nice, but an underwhelming and injury-hit campaign didn’t generate the kind of interest Arsenal would have hoped for.

The 28-year-old made 28 appearances for Nice, scoring eight goals, but he only played three times in Ligue 1 from January 16th to the end of the season due to injury.

The first step with his new club will be just to get playing again regularly.
