Writing on Instagram, Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga confirmed he’s suffered an injury setback.

“I thought it was my time to enjoy playing this beautiful game called football and work hard helping my teammates to reach our goal as a team,” Lokonga began.

“Unfortunately, an injury came to delay everything. I’ll be focused on my recovery and support the team during that time. See you in a [couple of months].”

Lokonga had been substituted early against Wolves at the weekend, and it now appears an injury must have had something to do with that.

The Belgian international joined Luton Town on loan at the end of the summer transfer window, after a long time without a competitive game.

The midfielder had been on loan with Crystal Palace in 2022/23, but after he came off early in a game against Wolves on April 25th, he didn’t play another minute for the Eagles.

Lokonga returned to Arsenal for pre-season, but an early injury ruled him out of the tour, and he struggled to break back into the squad on his return to fitness.

Then came the loan move to Luton Town, which was only officially confirmed after their deadline-day game against West Ham United.

As a result, it was almost five months for Lokonga between matches, and he only finally made his debut for Luton on September 16th.

But just two games later, he’s now set for another extended absence.
