The Arsenal u18s have had a mixed start to the new season so far, with only one win in 90 minutes from their first five games.

Technically, the side also won on penalties against Swindon Town in their opening EFL Trophy group game, but the result goes down as a draw with a bonus point rather than an outright win and three points.

So Osman Kamara’s strong early form was one of the positives for Jack Wilshere’s side, with the 17-year-old scoring two goals in his first three games.

Unfortunately, Kamara was then absent against Reading, and Jeorge Bird reports the absence was due to a minor injury.

Given Kamara’s form, it would be a shame for the u18s to be without him for any serious length of time. Given the injury is only described as “minor”, Wilshere will hope to have him back soon.

As well as his positive recent displays, Kamara was one of the top performers in Wilshere’s FA Youth Cup side last season.

Though he was often used as a substitute, the winger came on to great effect on a number of occasions, scoring a winner against Newcastle United and an equaliser against Watford to help change both results into victories.

Arsenal ended up finishing as runners-up in the tournament, but Kamara is still young enough to play for the team again this season, so maybe he’ll get another shot at cup glory.

First things first, he’ll have to focus on getting back to full fitness.
