PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk de Jong has suggested his team could make tactical changes from their usual style to face Arsenal on Wednesday.

Arsenal will return to the Champions League with a match against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night, and the visitors’ top goalscorer Luuk de Jong has been speaking to the media ahead of the clash.

PSV have played some free-flowing football in the early weeks of the new season, scoring 28 goals in their first nine games.

De Jong has scored nine of those goals himself, but he suggests PSV will alter their tactics for their trip to the Emirates Stadium.

“Maybe we will change some things tactically. You have to watch out against teams like Arsenal as little errors will kill you, they will score goals. Maybe there will be little changes,” De Jong said.

“Arsenal have a lot of quality players. Bukayo Saka is the one player who has so much individual quality to win games, and Martin Odegaard offers something different.

“They are going to be the toughest games for us but also the nicest.”

It’s not unusual for teams to change their approach against Arsenal in recent times, and we saw that with PSV’s last trip to the Emirates Stadium.

After dominating consecutive clashes against FC Zurich, scoring 10 goals in the two games, PSV turned up to the Emirates and sat deep.

The Gunners ended up having 25 shots to PSV’s four, with expected goals of 2.71 to 0.34. But the match only finished 1-0, and the away side were in it until the end.

Wednesday’s visitors will likely be planning to pull off something similar this time around, but with a different end result.
