Arsenal Youth report that Crewe Alexandra are interested in a season-long loan move for Arsenal youth striker Khayon Edwards, and they’re looking to complete a deal before the transfer window closes.

Edwards has started the season playing for the Arsenal u21s, but a loan move would make sense to allow him to push on into senior football now.

The striker made 15 appearances in the Premier League 2 last season, but his campaign was limited by a couple of injury setbacks.

Most frustratingly, Edwards second injury of the 2022/23 season came in the build-up to the January transfer window, preventing any chance of a loan move.

Until his injury at the end of 2021/22, Edwards had been able to play much more consistently for the Arsenal u18s, scoring 16 goals in the first 16 games of the league season.

It’s clear the 19-year-old can be a real threat when he gets some momentum, and the right loan could help to give him that.

Crewe Alexandra did a great job with Arthur Okonkwo last season, giving the Arsenal loanee a platform to impress and ultimately earn another loan move to Austrian first-division side Sturm Graz.

Edwards will now hope he can have a similar experience with the League Two side, who have started their league campaign with six points from their opening five games.

With no goals in their last 180 minutes of football, Crewe could certainly do with an attacking addition.
