Cheltenham Town travelled to Peterborough United for an EFL Trophy game on Tuesday, with Arsenal’s Nathan Butler-Oyedeji named on the bench for the side.

Former Gunner James Olayinka was in the starting lineup, but his appearance didn’t last very long.

Just five minutes into the match, Olayinka leapt up to control the ball in the air, and he caught an opponent in the face as his boot came down. The referee showed him a straight red card.

Peterborough took a 2-0 lead against Cheltenham’s 10 men, before Butler-Oyedeji was introduced as a second-half substitute in the 76th minute.

But two yellow cards in quick succession meant Butler-Oyedeji’s cameo also only lasted 12 minutes, and his side were reduced to nine.

For the second yellow, Butler-Oyedeji had slightly overrun the ball, and he went crashing into an opponent, who won possession just ahead of the Arsenal loanee.

Peterborough went on to score a third goal in injury time, ending the match 3-0 winners.
