Brentford are set to be without seven players for their League Cup game against Arsenal on Wednesday due to various injuries and suspensions.
The Evening Standard report that Brentford’s Kevin Schade will undergo a second scan on the hip injury he suffered ahead of Saturday’s game against Everton, with the club fearing a significant absence for the 21-year-old.
Schade could end up needing surgery, but whatever the scan shows, he won’t be available to face Arsenal on Wednesday night.
The Gunners take on Brentford in the third round of the League Cup, and Schade isn’t the only player set to miss the contest.
Despite his recent return to training and transfer interest from Arsenal, Ivan Toney is still banned and unavailable for the contest.
Then there’s Rico Henry, who picked up an ACL injury last week and will also be absent.
The Standard report that Ben Mee could be out for four weeks with the knock he picked up recently, whilst Mikkel Damsgaard joins Schade in waiting nervously for a new scan on a hip issue.
Former Arsenal academy midfielder Josh Dasilva is out of action with a hamstring injury, whilst Shandon Baptiste dislocated his shoulder in training.
Both players were ruled out of action in August, but neither are yet in contention to return to the pitch.
All in all, that makes seven Brentford absentees for the fixture, though Arsenal won’t be without injury absences of their own. Read more about the Gunners’ injury situation here.
