Arsenal received 17 call-ups for the September international break, let’s take a look at how they got on.

There were plenty of Arsenal players called up for their senior national teams this month, but it’s worth mentioning a couple of the absentees.

Jorginho wasn’t involved with Italy, with Luciano Spalletti explaining that the midfielder was left out because he’s not getting enough minutes with Arsenal.

Fabio Vieira and Nuno Tavares have been regulars with the Portugal u21s over the last few years, but both have now aged out and weren’t selected by the senior side.

Mohamed Elneny, Jurrien Timber, and Thomas Partey all missed out on the break through injury.

Notable among the call-ups are Gabriel Jesus, who was called up late, Elian Quesada-Thorn, an Arsenal u21 involved with the Costa Rica senior side for the first time, and Eddie Nketiah, involved with the England senior side for the first time.

Thursday, 7th September

  • Norway 6-0 Jordan – Friendly – Odegaard played 62 minutes for Norway.
  • France 2-0 Ireland – EURO Qualifier – Saliba played 17 minutes as a substitute for France.
  • Poland 2-0 Faroe Islands – EURO Qualifier – Kiwior played 90 minutes for Poland and helped them to keep a clean sheet.

Friday, 8th September

  • Georgia 1-7 Spain – EURO Qualifier – Raya didn’t come off the bench.
  • Luxembourg 3-1 Iceland – EURO Qualifier – Runarsson played 90 minutes for 10-man Iceland.
  • Cyprus 0-3 Scotland – EURO Qualifier – Tierney played 90 minutes for Scotland and helped them to keep a clean sheet.
  • Saudi Arabia 1-3 Costa Rica – Friendly – Quesada-Thorn wasn’t involved in the squad for Costa Rica.

Saturday, 9th September

  • Brazil 5-1 Bolivia – World Cup Qualifier – Gabriel Magalhaes played 84 minutes on his debut for Brazil, coming off with a knock.
  • Azerbaijan 0-1 Belgium – EURO Qualifier – Trossard played 79 minutes for Belgium.
  • Ukraine 1-1 England – EURO Qualifier – Zinchenko played 76 minutes and scored for Ukraine, whilst Saka played 86 minutes and Rice played 90 minutes for England. Ramsdale was on the bench whilst Nketiah wasn’t involved in the squad.
  • Estonia 0-5 Sweden – EURO Qualifier – Hein played 90 minutes for Estonia and made five saves.
  • Germany 1-4 Japan – Friendly – Tomiyasu played 90 minutes for Japan, Havertz played 73 minutes for Germany.

Sunday, 10th September

  • Albania 2-0 Poland – EURO Qualifier – Kiwior played 90 minutes for Poland.

Monday, 11th September

  • Iceland 1-0 Bosnia & Herzegovina – EURO Qualifier – Runarsson played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet for Iceland.

Tuesday, 12th September

  • Japan 4-2 Turkey – Friendly – Tomiyasu played 11 minutes as a substitute for Japan.
  • Costa Rica 1-4 United Arab Emirates – Friendly – Quesada-Thorn wasn’t involved in the squad for Costa Rica.
  • Belgium 5-0 Estonia – EURO Qualifier – Trossard played 66 minutes and scored for Belgium, whilst Hein played 90 minutes for Estonia.
  • Scotland 1-3 England – Friendly – Ramsdale and Rice played 90 minutes for England, and Saka came on for 19 minutes as a substitute.
  • Norway 2-1 Georgia – EURO Qualifier – Odegaard played 90 minutes and scored for Norway.
  • Spain 6-0 Cyprus – EURO Qualifier – Raya didn’t come off the bench.
  • Italy 2-1 Ukraine – EURO Qualifier – Zinchenko played 75 minutes for Ukraine.
  • Germany 2-1 France – Friendly – Havertz played 26 minutes as a substitute and provided an assist for Germany.

Wednesday, 13th September

  • Peru 0-1 Brazil – World Cup Qualifier – Gabriel Magalhaes played 90 minutes after shaking off his injury concern and helped Brazil to keep a clean sheet. Jesus and Martinelli came off the bench for 26 and five minutes respectively.
