Despite being one of the key members of Arsenal’s recent progress as a team, as well as becoming the club captain, Martin Odegaard has never really had a chant with the supporters in the stands.

There have been a couple of attempts to get different songs going, but none of them really worked before this weekend.

Fans at Goodison Park to watch Arsenal’s win over Everton finally got a chant going, singing it on the terraces and on the concourse.

For those struggling to catch all the lyrics, the chant goes as follows:

“Been dreaming all day, of our number eight, Martin Odegaard – oi, oi, oi! When he’s on the ball, he’s f***ing magical, Martin Odegaard – oi, oi, oi! Du du du du du, du du du du du, du du du du du, oi, oi oi!”

Arsenal fans have come up with some great player chants in recent years, from “Saka and Emile Smith Rowe” to the Saliba take on “Tequila”, the Zinchenko version of “Gold”, and so on.

Fabio Vieira had a ready-made chant upon joining, Declan Rice already has “Rice, Rice, Baby”, but Odegaard was long overdue the same recognition for supporters.

If the new chant takes off at the Emirates Stadium, that will change at last.
