Arsenal are set to travel to West Ham United in the fourth round of the League Cup, with the game taking place just days before the trip to Newcastle United.

Following Arsenal’s win over Brentford in the League Cup third round on Wednesday night, the Gunners drew West Ham United away from home in their next game of the competition.

Like Arsenal, West Ham only entered the League Cup at the third round stage, due to their participation in Europe this season.

The Hammers dispatched Lincoln City with a 1-0 victory away from home.

The fourth round match will take place in the week commencing October 30th, but it’s very likely to be on the Wednesday, November 1st.

West Ham face Everton on the previous Sunday, which would seemingly rule out the possibility of the Arsenal game taking place on Tuesday.

The Everton fixture had to be on that Sunday due to West Ham’s Europa League game against Olympiacos the previous Thursday.

As a result, Arsenal will have to travel to West Ham on the Wednesday, before playing against Newcastle United away from home later that week on Saturday.

The good news is that Newcastle will likely face the same turnaround, having been drawn away to Manchester United.

Manchester United also play the previous Sunday, facing Manchester City in a derby match at Old Trafford. So their League Cup game against Newcastle will likely also need to be on the same Wednesday.

Arsenal will also have a slight advantage going into the game against West Ham, as the Gunners play their previous match on Saturday, giving them an extra day of recovery before the fourth-round clash.
