West Ham United like Folarin Balogun and they’re one of the clubs to keep an eye on in the race, despite not having made a move yet.
Ben Jacobs reports that Inter Milan have bid for West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca, and the Hammers could make a move for Folarin Balogun in response.
Jacobs suggests West Ham are one to keep an eye on, and though they haven’t moved for Balogun yet, they do like the player.
Arsenal are looking for £45m to sell Balogun. Jacobs suggests the player believes he’s being priced out of the market, but there are reportedly some at Arsenal who think even a £45m valuation isn’t high enough, and a £50m fee would be fairer.
ExWHUEmployee has also confirmed West Ham’s interest in Balogun, but things are clearly in the early stages.
Fabrizio Romano reported this week that Inter Milan have currently halted talks over the signing of Balogun, as they consider the Arsenal striker to be too expensive.
Inter are instead choosing to focus on the deal for Scamacca, with West Ham United turning down their first bid but the Serie A side set to submit a new one.
Romano had previously reported that Balogun was Inter’s priority target, and talks had taken place over a transfer. But Inter were always a way off Arsenal’s asking price.
CBS Sports had claimed that as well as West Ham, Balogun had other Premier League suitors in Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace.
For the time being, Balogun is out injured, training separately from the main Arsenal group. That has further complicated the situation, with Mikel Arteta unable to get much of a look at the 22-year-old in match scenarios.
Balogun scored 22 goals on loan with Stade de Reims last season, making 39 appearances in all competitions.
